BE will NOT BU

I have Backup Exec on a WinNT Server(Sp6a).
It(BE) has been kinda quirky from the beginning
but it would at least back up.
Now it won't even back up, it shows
the job as being queued but never performs the
actual job. If you cancel the queued job
it just pops up the next one as scheduled.
I have tried everything that I know
to do. Any suggestions would be great!

one freaky thing we have found about backup jobs that seem to hang forever is if the removable storage manager service is still running and trying to controll the tape drives at the same time Veritas is trying to use them. their site has a procedure for disabling the drives in RSM and then re-running the device configuraton wizard in veritas to install it's own native drivers. in these cases it would always hang on "loading media" and never actually start the job.
