Actually the subject of this thread doesn't sound as bad as its literal meaning, if you didn't notice those words can be played on a musical instrument.

Can you think of a better-sounding phrase?

This puzzle is susceptible to SQLing!
Some words you can use: bag, dead, beef, bed, face, babe, cage, egg, ace and so on, you can figure out the rest.

Download Pianito MicroStudio if you want to test your creativity.

You are welcome. I don't have a dictionary database yet, all I did was to download a file (letter C), save it as html and open it to see what it looks like.

I guess I wouldn't strip the html tags because I would need them to identify each word as they are enclosed like <hw>C</hw>.

I just used
Code:
grep -v -e '[^a-f]' /usr/share/dict/words
to get a word list.

The composition is my own, thanks for the compliments and the welcome.

I've been playing piano since I was nine years old and I forgot the G? No wonder my word list was short. Ha!

ESquared - I thought you were sharper than that.

I can only plead life & job stress, and mental preoccupation with other things. That's left my normal mental acuity a little flat...

I completely understand. Your comments have definately struck a chord with me.

Yes, I know there's no reason to feel personally diminished just because of a little hiccup in my normal tempo.

ESquared & CajunCenturion,

Could you scale your conversation back, or at least change the tone? This thread already has over a score posts, and if that should treble, I fear that I'll lose my sight reading them all.

RodKnowlton,

Your words haven't augmented things in the slightest. In fact, they have rather diminished the thread by creating a key change in its timbre.

I expect you to compose yourself before you make such a fearful recital again!

This thread has been raised to too high a pitch already! we need harmony, not dissonance...

ESquared,

Please don't use my overture as a measure of my conduct.

As I beg your quarter, note that modulation has never been my forte.

I intended no slur, on this I my case must rest.

Actually, if you use rest as in "I rest my case on this" instead of "my case rests on this" then your sentence was grammatically correct, even if it used a nonstandard word order. I think.

My original sentence was supposed to be as follows:

I intended no slur, and on this my case must rest.
