BDC Cannot see DC

We have a BDC at a remote site which is in the same domain.

We recentlt had a problem with WINS and removed it from both the PDC and BDC and placed it on a Windows 2000 server.

Everything seemed fine but now when users get authenticated by the BDC at either site they cannot change their password even though they can ping and see all machines on the network.

If you go to the BDC and use USRMGR or SRVMGR it fails as it cannot find the DC.

Please can someone help as we are now lost of ideas as how to fix this.

Regards
Ian

HI.

You should recheck the WINS configuration.
Does all servers use the new WINS server (including the WINS server itself)?
Use IPCONFIG /ALL on all servers to verify this.

Does all workstations use the new WINS server?

Can the remote BDC ping the WINS server and vice versa?
If not, then this is probably a routing issue.
If it is routing issue, use the following commands on the WINS server:
ROUTE PRINT
ROUTE /?
ROUTE -P ADD ....
ROUTE PRINT

Hi Yizhar

The Wins Server had the Ip address of the old Wins server, so this could have been the problem.

I changed it and am gona do some testing.

Thanks for your help.
