Hi guys,
I was under the impression that we could use a backup from a BCM50r6 and apply it to another BCMr6. I tried that but got an error message. I was wondering if the problem would be a corrupted backup file or if we simply can't do something like that. For all it matters, both systems were upgraded from earlier release. I simply need to have one system ready as a back-up for the running one in case of equipment failure.
Thanks
Paul

Make sure the new BCM has the exact same patches (or greater/newer) installed.

I would suggest you apply newer patches on the old system, then do the backup.

Latest patches for BCM50 R6:
System 022
Desktop 005
SAMBA
UTPS

You can have a vendor do this remotely by opening some ports.

Curly is spot on. You can corrupt a hard disk if you do a restore using one with older patches than what the existing one had.

BCM 4.0 systems tend to suffer more than the later 50 and 450 versions.
