I have a Bcm50R6 that doesn't boot up after a power surge.
First time i got this issue with a Bcm.

I get these messages;

mgetty FATAL: yV0 cannot get terminal line dev=ttyV0, exiting
modprobe: modprobe: Can't open dependencies file /lib/modules/2.4.22-ncgl-11.45.
1.0/modules.dep (No such file or directory)

mgetty FATAL: yV0 mod: cannot open line /dev/ttyV0

mgetty FATAL: yV0 open device /dev/ttyV0 failed

mgetty FATAL: yV0 cannot get terminal line dev=ttyV0, exiting

If i press "enter" i get;

NCGL 2005 (cjdavola)
Kernel 2.4.22-ncgl-11.45.1.0 on a ppc (ttyS0)

localhost login:

So it looks like it's booting to a certain point.

Maybe there is a command i can do at that login to do an integrity check or a checkdisk.

I replaced the drive with another R6 one that is working in another bcm but it doesn't boot on this affected bcm.

Any clues?

Since you tried another working HDD then no need to check the current disk.
Have you tried another PS? it might have taken a hit and is not providing enough juice for the BCM.

Is it the usual looping of amber & green lights or is it double red lights?

I view them using a usb cable connected inside the Bcm.

I was finally able to revive the bcm50 using a Bcm50/450 multi-image drive and installing R6 release.
It would not work with a Release 6 image drive so i guess something was corrupted on the hardware that got fixed by the multi-image drive.

It's odd as the boot up files are specific for each BCM version and those files are stored on the motherboard.

It's possible now that the multi image software had worked that your single BCM release 6.0 image will now work.

Anyway, the main thing is that you have a working phone system.

Thanks for posting your solution.
