BCM50 r6.0 Keycodes

I'm trying to remove a BCM50 R6.0 keycodes. I have went into putty and done a software reset which I have read is the same as a level 2 reset but the keycodes are still on the BCM. Does anyone no how to remove the keycodes?

From release 5.0 onwards extra changes were made to the keycode structure. It's also stored in a different location on the motherboard.

There is a way of removing it, but it's tricky and you need nnsupport access.

The question is why do you want to remove the keycodes?.

Our customer thinks they have to be removed so they can transfer their keycodes to this BCM. I told the salesperson all they needed to do is transfer their keycodes. In other words the sales person is not listen to me. I have went back to the salesperson and told him again that they can put their keycodes on the system.

You just "transfer" keycodes from one BCM to another. They are tied to system. The old system must be taken "out of service" so that the licences can be recovered and new key codes generated for the new system.

Marv meant you "cant".

Think about it, you have 200 BCMs, you are saying you only need to buy one auth code for one BCM then you use the same key code on all others?

Are you familiar with the requirements to convert an Authorization code into a key code?
You need the System ID of the BCM to input into the KRS hence what Mary says "tied to system".

yes allworxguy I know this I have swapped keycodes from one bcm to another with the help of Avaya.

So if you know the process then why are you telling your sales guy otherwise?

If you have not been clear on what exactly the situation is and what you are trying to do then maybe explain.

Also note when you add a key code the old one gets wiped out so to say it has to be removed first is not true.

you need to do this via KRS and then ship back the donor system in order to avoid invoicing for the keycodes.
Talk to your Avaya dealer.

You DO NOT have to remove the keycodes form the old system before transferring, or migrating, to the new system. Avaya hasn't been strict on returning the "old" systems, however, once you transfer the keycodes from the old system to the new one, you can no longer get ANY keycodes for the old system. In addition, the BCM 200/400 keycodes were tied to the MSC Card ID,so you could technically "move" the MSC Card to a new chassis and put the same keycodes into the new chassis. The BCM 450 is tied to the ID on the motherboard, so you must use the KRS process to transfer the keycodes from the old to the new system.
