Is there a way to reset the password on a BCM50 without doing a level 2 reset? Like a backdoor password or password of the day type thing? we have a new client with a bcm50 and they dont know the passwords and i'd like to avoid resetting all programming if possible

Level 2 is your cheapest option. Nortel will charge u big time to go thru the back door.

dasheen...

we likely will pass the cost off to the client... so there is an option for a backdoor password? can this be done through nortel self service online or do we need to call them?

You'll have to get a Nortel authorized partner to open a ticket and submit a purchace order. If I recall correctly, approx 1500 US. It would probably be cheaper to just do the reset and reprogram.

Yes, Nortel will issue you with a one off high level account access that requires the systems site ID or MAC address. It's valid for one day only as the password is based on the systems date / ID.

If you were able to log in at a different / lower level, then it's possible to reset the accounts.

If it's working, then leave it alone!.
