BCM50 No Ports Left

Hi All,

I registered a nortel 1120e ip phone with a bcm50 but the message NO Ports Left comes up on screen there were 10 iphone registered before this one. I remember that the bcm50 was originally installed with two ip phones before adding an epansion module and a keycode for 10 additional ip licenses. When looking under resources I can only see 10 licenses, shouldnt this be 12.

How many licence is there in the key code file for the ip phones.

This will tell you for sure.

well 10 ip licenses, but shouldn't the 10 ip licenses bought in the keycode be additional to what was there before the keycode was installed.

When you view the keycodes if it says only 10 then that's what you have.

Yes I understand this but something looks wrong, the keycode menu shows 12 digital licenses, but I have 28 digital phones installed, im guessing the system came with 12 by default, but we are very sure that we had 2 ip phones installed before adding an additional keycode for 10 ip and 12 digital.

Does the system assign a license to each phone or does it working in a pool. If it assigns is there way to find this information.

one other thing is I think the bcm50 was upgraded to release 6 do you have to reapply keycodes after upgrading ?

The keycode file always lists the total number of licenses you have. If one version of your keycode file shows 2 IP phones and the next version shows 10 IP phones, it means 8 IP phone licenses were added.

With regard to the digital phones, only digital set ports on the main BCM50 chassis are considered a licensed resource. As there are 12 such ports, you can have up to 12 digital set licenses - these licenses allow you to connect 12 digital devices to the main chassis.
When you add an expansion chassis with a DSM module, the expansion license and the cost of the MBM already cover the cost of the (up to 32) digital set licenses. Well - at least that's the logic used by Nortel.

Is there a way to find out which IP licenses are assigned to each ip phone.

Look in resources/Telephony Resources/IP sets. It will show what is registered also you can deregister sets too.
