Hello Guys,

I just inherited the support of a BCM50 and proceeded to change the LAN1 from 192.168.10.7 to 10.0.15.7. For some reasons, the LAN 1 is not accessible anymore. I can see Ethernet Activity on the LAN 1 when logging into the Element Manager using the OAM port 10.10.11.1, can confirm through SSH that the IP on LAN 1 is indeed 10.0.15.7 but still can't access the LAN 1 on 10.0.15.7

The LAN1 is directly connected through a cisco switch configured on vlan1 10.0.15.2/24. I can confirm the port is up on the Cisco switch and no erros whatsoever on the interface counters.

I just have no clues on what's going on. I don't want to jump the gun and proceed with a L1/L2 reset. Any suggestions what should I do to re-enable access to the LAN1.

Other things found in Ethernet activity, noticed the port lan 1 is setup for auto-negotiation. Anyone knows how I can switch to off and force the duplex to full as well to match the same parameters in my switch.

Thanks for your help

Did you try your laptop on Lan 1?
Is the PC or Laptop you are trying have its address set to 10.0.15.X?

Thanks curlycord and norstarboy125 for your quick replies. I had tried what you suggested in plugging my laptop directly into the LAN1 port and same issues. Port is up but can't reach it via IP. I had tried plugging in another swich, and even direcly in my firewall. No luck, still same issues.

I have rebooted and also did a warm reset. But that did not change anything.

That's really annoying... OAM is reachable without any issue but not the LAN 1 port. Is there a way to reset the port without doing a L1/L2 reset.

Thanks for your support

Thanks NorstarBoy, I can't ping it on 10.0.15.7. I am indeed in the same subnet when I'm attached directly to the PC and in the same subnet as well using a port belonging to the same vlan 10.0.15.x/24 as the BCM LAN1. However, I am able to ping the OAM interface on vlan 10.10.11.1/24

Have you tried using a cross over Ethernet cable. I know that the BCM 50/450 don't need them, but your LAN1 port might be faulty. Also manually set up your PC with the same Subnet, Gateway and nearest IP address to what you had on the BCM.

My common faults with this is usually the Subnet as the OAM port tends to be 255.255.255.252 and I forget to change it from 255.255.255.0.

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

I had to replace a Bcm50 R1 chassis last year because the Lan port was defective even if showing activity in it.
It was using VoIp lines to a CS1000 therefore the LAN port was absolutely needed.
Replacing the chassis, swapping the licenses in KRS and putting back the hard drive fixed the issue.

Thanks Gberger for your reply. I think I'm going down that route.I will go ahead and replace the chassis. I'm in the same situation as you,I use voip lines to connect to another BCM.

One of my test BCM 50 systems has a faulty OAM port. I have the same results as you did, so I agree that it's a hardware fault on the motherboard. It's best to migrate over the keycodes onto another unit.

Before you start changing chassis, since you can get into the system using the OA&M port, why don't you do a restore to factory defaults on the network stuff only. I've had to do that on a few systems. Fixes them up every time!

I even have changed the OAM ports IP address to what I needed and it worked on the lan.
