Have a bcm50 rls. 3.0 with expansion cabinet & 8x16 combo mbm. Expansion unit was bad so I replaced. everything was working fine for a week, then the expansion unit stopped working. Tried to reboot, only main system come up. lines & phones work fine on main unit but not expansion. Would replacing the main cab help?

Thanks

Have you had a tech out to take a look?

Alarms
Patch cord
Faulty replacement
What the lights are doing
Power supplies and so on

Have replaced power supply, lights on expansion power-solid green, Nortel symbol led-solid amber. Replaced cat 5 cable to main unit. This will be the third replacement for the expansion unit, some of these are refurbished units, so can't really count on that...! So will replacing the main unit solve expansion problems?

P.S. Have rebooted system from element manager, to no avail....

You labeled your self as a Technical User but suspect you are in fact a tech (Programmer or Vendor).

Replace the MBM and test
No Alarms?

Just wondering - is the expansion chassis connected to the main unit using the original cable that came with the chassis (shielded Cat5e 3 ft)? If I remember correctly, you could use up to 30 ft, but the cable must be shielded!

Used to be a tech quite a few years ago, Now just a user.... Have forgotten a few things like so many of us old Nortel Guys... so I am posting here to see if I can get some fresh ideas about the BCM line. P.S. If I was still a tech & knew the BCM, I would not be on here asking for help...!
