We have a BCM50 and 8x16 expansion module with analog lines coming in and Rel 6.0 installed. It seems that for two years Caller ID has always been an intermittent problem, but far more so now. Here's what we know after lots of testing:
[ul]
[li]CLID is recognized 100% of the time on all lines at the DMARC (not a single failure).[/li]
[li]Failure only occurs on the 2 lines that appear on the desk phones and are also output to analog devices.[/li]
[li]Failure occurs on about 30% of calls. When it happens, nothing appears on the desk phones or on the analog output port.[/li]
[li]Failure still occurs when no devices are connected to the analog output port.[/li]
[/ul]
Of course this seems to be a problem with the BCM50's handling of lines output to both phones and an analog port. But from threads I'm reading it seems that all these intermittent CLID problems were resolved in previous release updates and patches (we're on Release 6). IS ANYONE OUT THERE STILL SEEING THIS PROBLEM?
Another question...
The failures are far more frequent on calls from local cell phones than local land lines (over 2:1), so we suspect some of the problem might be a delay in the Caller ID signal from the CO (not within spec: 0.5-1.5sec after end of first ring). What equipment is required to test the timing and quality of the CLID signal from the CO?
