BCM50 Autoattendant & Password

I am not familiar with Nortel Systems. I work on Partner ACS systems.
A customer has asked me to change the number of rings that the Auto Attendant answers from 2 rings to 4 rings. He does not have a manual. Can I do this from a phone or do I need a PC to access the internal web.
Also, if the password is not the default one, then he does not know it, Is there a backdoor password?
 
Your best off to go in through Element manager and launch the Call Pilot application. Then go to auto attendant and lines and change the number of rings to whatever. You might be able to go in through F983 if you've had that setup correctly and know the passwords.
 
Ok. What is Element manager and launch the Call Pilot application? Is that using the PC ?
 
yes element manager is available from Avaya web site to interface with bcm starting at release 4.0 and up I think

I made the cross over cable, but the Web access is asking for a user & password. Is there a default one I can try?
 
If you are the customer contact your vendor who installed it. They should have the correct password.

Passwords aren't allowed on this forum. I'm sure the guy above me will be getting a nice email from tek-tips. The fact that it was given to you and it didn't work you are pretty much screwed and also lacking Nortel knowledge. You could achieve this thru telset programming put you need pswds for that as well.

I contacted Bellsouth/at&t. Customer service says that they would call me anywhere from June 2 thru June 9. She doesn't know whether they will charge the company for this ionformation.

I do have some Telset passwords, but the first reply reccommends using the Element Manager. Do you have the instructions for the Telset procedure?
 
Ok, I checked the settings on the auto attendant. Line 1 & 3 are not assigned to the AA & line 2 is assigned with 2 rings. I changed line 2 to 4 rings but AA still answers on 2 rings. It also answers all 3 incoming lines. I am so confused.
 
The lines are really not 1,2, or 3. They are most likely lines 061-063. Change the AA to answer those lines and you should be good. Go to a phone that has the lines assigned to it and press f*0 and then press the line keys one at a time. It should say what line number it is.

You were right. It was lines 61-63. It now rings 4X.
When I asked the at&t technician,that installed the system,for the passwords, I told him that I wanted to use a Laptop on the BCM50. He told me he did all of the programming from a phone. Does that mean the Web & Call Pilot interface has not been setup? I tried his userid & password on both interfaces and I could not get in.
 
You can do alot thru the telset programming on a 50 and yes you can setup the Callpilot this way. The other technician might be telling you the truth. It really comes down to preference, if you come from a Norstar background then you find those people will go with the telset method more often. Network/Data background people will use the laptop method everytime cause it's much easier for them and probably don't even know what heading,show,back,next do.

You are right. I would prefer the Laptop, but I use the phone on the Partner ACS. I know the codes so it is faster.
