BCM50 5.0 hard drive replacement

I am trying to replace a BCM50 2.0 harddrive with a preloaded 5.0 replacement but will not boot up any suggestions?

Was your BCM 50 release 2 originally a very early release 1 system?. I think that there were some incompatibility issues when upgrading to a version 3, so therfore a version 5 would also cause problems.

Also your keycodes for release 2 won't work on a release 5, unless to have had them upgraded?.

BCM 50 was a release 2 originally & it has no keycodes installed (Brand new Rls 2.o out of box hard drive used to restore existing 2.0 customer with HD failure.
