Just got some brand spankin' new 1230 sets from Avaya. I plug them into the network and all I get is "Connecting to Server", then after a while the phone reboots. It never connects to the server.

I have verified the phone is getting DHCP from the BCM450, but just to insure I manually programmed that part. I verified there is no VLAN assigned in the set.

I remember a while back the BCM50 had this same problem with IP1230 sets and not kicking in the firmware download/check.

I'm not a noob to this crap, but I just hate when they don't have specific IP phone releases and their minimum patch requirement for the BCM.

Other than loading the latest patch, what can I do?

apply the firmware directly to the phone.
Use a tftp server programme and connect to your phone.
Transfer the file to the phone.

Found it..

Thanks for pointing me in the write (pun intended) direction.

I did have them but i dumped them when the patch came out.

Hope you get it sorted.
