I have 16 IP sets on the 450 rls 1 with no problems. I just purchased 4 additional IP client licenses and now I have 20 listed in the IP client seat field in the keycode section and it shows that it is active. When I try to add the 17th set I am prompted for the new set DN, and when I enter a DN from the list of inactive DNs, I get the message "invalid DN". I can de-register one of the off-line IP sets and then can add the new one using the DN I previously got the invalid DN message on. It appears that the system is limiting me to only 16 IP set DNs even though I'm clearly licensed for 20. The system was recently patched and was rebooted after the keycode was installed.

you might also have inactive DNs that previously registered and no longer being used. Go thru your inactive DNs and see if you have any that still registered and de-register them. I think the system looks for registered sets not active sets.

Resources are set to Max - shows 20, and no old sets registered. I deregistered a couple of old ones so I could add the required new ones. Now I have a total of 16 registered, all active.

Can someone verify this for me? Under telephony resources, select module "Internal." What is listed in the "total" column for IP sets? Is it the actual number of IP sets or is it the number of IP clients on the box? Mine has 16, the number of registered sets (offline and online) even though I have 20 IP client licenses. I need to add the 17th but still get reprimanded with a "invalid DN" message. When I check the Auto-assign DNs box, I immediately get the same message on the phone I'm trying to register without entering any DN.

I had the same problem during a cut over and for the life of me I can't remember what I did I have looked at the docs and can't find anything one this problem. I think I whent into applications and made some DNs to use.

Have you added the new DNs via Telephony Resources > IP Sets > Configure ?

Bingo, Viking. I added another 50 sets in resources and now I can add sets again. I don't know why the system only had 16 DNs there. Previously, I just added a license and then the phone and the sets would register. I never had to add DNs since it was installed last year. Strange.
