I have a 450 V6 that is rebooting ramdomley i suspect i need to apply this patch, but my OCD side tells me not to patch until i find evidence that this is the cause..

The Doc for the patch says..

"The following issue is addressed:

1. System rebooted on its own.
System resets on its own and reboot reason is "Hardware Watchdog" or
"External Soft Reset". This fix makes the SPI interface and watchdog
implementation in hardware monitoring FPGA more robust by taking care of
glitches which may corrupt the FPGA registers.

so my question is where will i find the "Hardware Watchdog" or "External Soft Reset" in the logs ??

Over to you Dave !!

If its not broke tweak it..

I've had this problem and found it to be either the power unit or the small circuit board that sits in the middle of the chassis connecting the motherboard, modules and power unit together.

Have you changed out the power unit?

All the best

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

Patch the system always, don't let others tell you otherwise.

If the patch does not work then replace the power supply.

PSU has been swapped..

The card you are referring to is the Chassis Interface Card

I will look into getting this patch put on asap

Applied patch today and have to say that was the most but clenchingley scary patch i have ever done !!

Lets see what happens...

If its not broke tweak it..

The patch just replaces an FPGA image file on the hard disk. There should be nothing scary about it. [bigsmile] The BCM450 system uses this image to program the FPGA during startup.

Actually, the image isn't on the hard drive - it is in flash memory. Anyway, if the system came up fine after a reboot, the system is in good shape.

Ahh yes but the lights flash in a pattern i have never seen before for quite some time it had be worried..

If its not broke tweak it..

It has been 2 weeks now no resets fingers crossed :)
