Hello everyone,

I've got a customer with a BCM450 r1.0 with 72 digital sets and 1 pri. They're moving soon and looking at replacing all 72 T7316Es with 1230 ip phones. Their IT guy wanted to "test drive" a 1230 ip set so I took one over there today. After getting it running on his desk, I did a system + user set copy from his digital extension(6625) to the new 1230 extension(6684). Then I changed the new 1230 dn from 6684 to 6625.
Everything appears to be working fine except his caller id. It will only show number. It was showing name first on the old digital set but will only show number on the new voip set. In fact every T7316E in the place is showing caller id name first on all incoming calls.
I checked the programming to make sure his extension is set for name first and not number first and it's set correctly. When I press INFO or do an F811 during an incoming call all that will show up is the caller id number.
I haven't tried rebooting yet and there've been no patches applied to this system since it was installed in 2009 as far as I know.
Thanks in advance for any input or suggestions.

I wonder if you go into the actual set it self and revers would hen the Name only show?.

1. Press the
Services
key, select
Telephone Options
and select
Caller
ID
display order.
2. Press the
Up/Down
navigation keys to scroll up or down, and then
select one of the following:

Number, name
(default)

Name, number
3. Press the
Select
soft key to save the configuration, else press the
Cancel
key to cancel the modifications.

Thanks curly, I'll give it a try and post the result.

Okay, this IT guy finally got back from vacation so I went over there and went into the 1230 ip phone user programming. When I press the Services key once, I get a list of features like call forward, call log, call pickup, onn blocking, etc. but nothing that relates to caller id.
When I press the Services key twice, I get a menu of four items that include preferences, diagnostics, network configuration and lock menu. All that appears under preferences is contrast and language - can't find anything relating to caller id anywhere.
I found 1230 ip phone installation, configuration and user guides on a bcm450r1.0 disk that I had and don't see anything about caller id except the standard settings in system programming under telephony-->active sets. The info on the disk matches what I'm seeing in the 1230 set menus.
What's really strange is I changed his setting from name first to number first to line first calling the DID number each time to see what it would do. It showed number and line as advertised. When I changed the setting back to name first, it showed caller id name! but only one time. All subsequent calls kept showing number.
Is anyone aware of a patch or system update that might have bearing on this when applied? Maybe a system reboot?

Follow up -- The BCM450 hard drive crashed on December 18th. We replaced the hard drive, upgraded from r1.0 to r6.0, reloaded the keycodes and backup file. Now the 1230 ip set is showing name first caller id on every call. Must be some bug in r1.0.
