does anyone know how to change the OAM port default IP adress on a BCM450. any help would be apreciated.

thanks

Hi Jesus, you cant.. but you dont need to...jk

Cursed and Blessed is the day that we decided telcom would be our profession.

Thanks for the input guy's. It was the first BCM450 we installed. And the customer's subnet mask is 255.0.0.0, and that causes a conflict with the OAM port. FYI Nortel is aware of the issue and will have a patch released within the next 2 months to resolve the issue.

Thanks

The OAM port should NOT be on the customers network. Its reserved for local (direct) management.

It's not on the customers network. Lan 1 is what we were trying to get onto the customers network. Since the customers Subnet mask is 255.0.0.0 the BCM wont let you change it to that class because of the OAM port subnetmask. It doesn't make any sense but that's Nortel's answer.

Thanks

I've my BCM450 with IP address 192.168.150.45 and it's connected to the network by a LAN port, not by the OAM port.

If anyone on the network tries to get 10.10.11.1, the BCM450 will interfere, obviously using its LAN port.

The LAN port has a MAC address ending in 27.
The OAM port has a MAC address ending in 28.

When I check the ARP cache on my PC, 10.10.11.1 is in the list, with the MAC address ending in 27.
Clearly the BCM is answering ARP when it should not be. This is a problem.

Nortel should have have a means to change the OAM address just like it does for the BCM50.
It causes me problems (as well as causing bwinatick a problem) that this feature is not included.
