BCM450 Hard Drive Specs

I need to buy a new drive. Anyone know of a manual that has the specs for a replacement drive?

Most 80 gig SATA disks or greater should be OK.

Here is a Seagate hard disk taken from a BCM 450 as ST3160318AS

Do you know of a manual that specifies this exactly? My boss wants to see it in writing.

The BCM450 will work properly with pretty much all SATA II and SATA III hard drives and SSDs. Personally, I would recommend a 120GB SSD. If your boss requires the "real thing" (FRU and no need for hard disk cloning), order the BCM multi-image hard drive - the NT code is NT9T4242E6. That way, you will get a Seagate 160GB drive with the BCM software.
Don't forget to apply all patches to the new drive to match the backup that you will be restoring.

You haven't said if you are planning on replacing the hard disk into a failed unit or attempting to use it to be mirrored from an existing one as you have said that you have a BCM 450 system.

I put some Intel 180Gig SSD drives in ours. Mirrored. Have to use a drive bay adapter so it fits the 2.5" SSD into the 3.5" drive slot. ICY Dock makes good ones. The drive bay adapters at the local store were really crappy and had poor solder joints so my first attempt at that failed when using those pieces of junk adapters. Also you cannot just use a bracket as the pins on the SATA connector must line up as they would with a 3.5" drive. There are no cables to plug in, it's a slide in drive bay.

If buying some off the shelf drive you can image it with the disk images that Avaya has available for download on PLDS. (You need a valid login attached to a site id or partner account for most downloads). Avaya plans to take all the downloads away in the future. Make backups of these downloads now, they will be gone soon. Drive images they have are in acronis true image format. Older versions of acronis true image are usually easy to get cheap (ebay and amazon). I believe I used version 2012.

Looks like they pulled the BCM400 images already or perhaps my account is just screwed up again as it often is since they switched everything to plds from the old nortel espl PEP system. I think I have filled out the access request form a dozen times now to regain download access and it lasts for a few weeks or months then its gone again.
