BCM450 - Can't access Business Element Manager

OK I need some help here quickly. I have a BCM450 rls 5.0 that was working fine until the power strip it was plugged into malfunctioned. When power was restored the system seemed to work fine, both phones and voice messaging. I tried to use element mgr to make a change a now get the messageBCMDetector cannot determine the device type for xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx. I can still log into CallPilot Mgr using that IP address and those credentials and can access the BCM web page. I also clicked the "validate device" button from em and it says that em has determined the device type as a BCM450. I rebooted a couple of times.

I had the same problem with a BCM 400 V4. I managed to fix it by resetting the system via the telset access using feature 9*8.

I could reset using the serial port or through a Putty connection but I think I'll just throw in a new hard drive and restore to it. That way if anything goes wrong with the restore I can put the old one back in. I can then test this one in a lab. If it looks good I'll wipe it and put it in the crash kit.

Update - I replaced the hard drive and reloaded the backup. I again have element manager and life's good! I probably could have reset the programming and reloaded to the original hard drive with equally good results but I wanted that comfort zone of knowing I could throw it back in and bring the system back up in the event the restoration failed.
