I have two BCM450s networked with SIP and MCDN. The boss wants to route all incoming calls through one Auto Attendant. There are about 100 users on each BCM with each having mailboxes for the local users. With that setup, from the AA I can't dial extensions on the other system. What is needed to network the two voice mail systems to operate like the phones themselves? Have any of you found a work-around for this?

Why not have centralized vmail...one vmail system for both?

I had thought about that. What is required to have it centralized? We purchased these without the expectation of needing to dial extensions from AA for the other system.

With centralized vm, can I still do f986 from phones on the remote system?

No you won't be able to use F986 on the remote site but you can use the service directory number feature in the call pilot under Configuration.

gberger, I've played around with the SN in a lab setup but not in an actual working environment. Would I just create a SDN and transfer all call voice mail calls to it like I would use f986?

You would transfer to that SDN then enter the mailbox number when asked.

Thanks gberger and Dasheen. I will eventually suggest the centralized route but I want to set it up in a lab before rolling it out to the sites. Any tips on implementing centralized voice mail?

I did find the problem with dialing extensions on the other site from AA. There's a check box in voice mail configuration for allowing external transfers. If that isn't checked (it isn't by default) you can't transfer to extensions on the other system from AA even with MCDN. It says"you have entered an invalid extension" but when checked the transfer works just as if it were on the local system. That takes the heat off the directory issue for the time being.
