I need to setup IP sets at a remote location using only IP phones, no lines, no BCM. We have MPLS from Nuvox, and they claim if our PBX can track IP's, then they can tag e911 based on IP address from calls.

So, if remote IP grabs a line on the PRI at the home office, how would the BCM tell the Line it was originated from a Remote LAN IP? Any other way to correct 911 using Nortel IP sets at the remote site?

Thanks

smdr/call accounting software? and just identify the extension number. i wouldn't worry about the IP.

but i would not want remote phones to dial 911. that could be a real issue.

As far as i know the 911 center will only see the caller ID info of the PRI (BCM location) no matter were the set is located, and i do not think the BCM supports E911.

I concure this is not Vontage or that type of Ip they are talking about that could use E911 you are getting your lines from the BCM not the internet.

you can do it via caller ID, just have the ip set put out a custom caller ID, for example, if the user has a DID that goes to the phone, send that for the outbound caller ID from that phone, then the E911 database will look at that number. I have sites using this.

BombOne, great news. Paetec actually told me that, but I was leary of it. I am still going to use a Fax line for 911 in case of the MPLS connection going down, but this is good news.
