Hello,

I am new to these forums and to these Nortel systems and am seeking some guidance. I have a BCM400 4.0. Coming from a Cisco Call manager/unity background I didn't think hunt groups had any bearing on VM. After mucking with said hunt group it seems all incoming calls from outside the company go to the general mailbox. If I call the phone by its internal extension the call goes to the users VM that they recorded. Am I incorrect in this assumption that by deleting the hunt group I nuked the path to individuals VM? If so how do I reconfigure it?

Thanks.

If the calls are comming in on the Hunt Group extension then that is the mailbox that it is looking for. If it cann't find it then it dumps to the Gen Del mailbox.

Thats what I'm not exactly sure about. This is happening to all phones not just the main line. I dont recall seeing every phone in the hunt group I created. Also why would a hunt group matter to all voice mail. That something I don't get.

are you saying if you dial an extension out of auto attendant to a users extension it goes to GD instead of their mailbox? if so, look at the transfer call back timer under telephony / global / feature settings. if the transfer timer is less than the forward no answer, the call will get pulled back to voice mail before the set forwards to voice mail.

When a call is made to any phone from an outside line or even internally calling the full number it will go to the Gen Del VM. However if I call the 3 digit extension internally it goes to the users VM that they set. I have the transfer callback timeout set to 12 rings. Delay Ring transfer at 6 rings.

Forwards no answer is at 4.

Hunt groups do not follow the phones FWD NO answer it follows the hunt groups settings QUE/overflow.
How do calls come in from the out side,AA? It could be the AA has a CCR tree ex. dial 1 for service 2 for tires etc.
and the path of press 1 lets say could be directed to a hunt group DN then it would need to be removed or reprogramed.

We dont use the AA. Calls come straight in to the receptionist. Even if you call my number directly it has the same result.

So if the recept transfers calls to extentions it sounds like what Bombone said look at the transfer call back timer in feature settings.

Thanks for the input everyone. I was able to fix the issue. As I assumes it had to do with the hunt group I nuked. I found a target line set as loop with all the internal extensions in that. I went back to the Hunt group section and created a new one. I configured as follows.

Mode : Sequential
Hunt Delay : 3
If Busy : Overflow
Queue Timeout : 60
Overflow : 851 <= Application DN for Voicemail

Line Assignment : 064 <= that target line set as loop with all DN's in it

Hunt group Members : 100 Appr&ring <= Figured it was the top most DN in All DN's list and is a control set as well. Not exactly sure why but it worked.

The only problem I see is if your analog lines are in a rollover/hunt then you only have one line assigned to the internal Hunt group. This hunt group simulates a cheep ACD with no greetings so it will ony get one call. Or is the recept transfering to the HG DN? Plus sequential means it will ring the first for 3 rings the the next member and so on. Broadcast will ring all members at the same time.
