Hello,

We have a Nortel BCM400 and about 60 various Nortel digital telephones. Last week we started to replace the digital sets with Nortel i2002 sets. The swap out went perfectly until we were left with about 5 phones. When registering the new i2002 telephones, I now recieve a message on the i2002 saying "Server: No Ports Left". I have verified we have enough IP licenses available, however it seems every phone that we replaced has now gone into an inactive state and is still consuming a port. Any ideas how we can remove the old inactive digital sets? The DeRegister option only seems to be available for IP phones. The old sets we used to use were T7316e, T7208 and a few M7324 devices.

Any help would be appreciated.

you are correct, deregistoer only applys to IP phones. look at the list of IP phones under resources, and deregister any inactive ones, maybe you have some unused ones from testing or something.

All the IP sets we have now are active as they had replaced existing digital sets. We are now left with 5 IP phones that we cannot register due to this problem with No Ports Left.

You must change to 3/5 split to have more signaling channels

will we lose any programming on the telephones if we change to a 3/5 split? I've done some research on this and found that if we have anything running on Bus 7 it will be lost. How would I go about finding out what's running on what Bus?

On telephony Resources you can see what buses you have in use.
If you have bus 7 occuped, you must change to other free

Thank you morenot. We will give your suggestions a try.

take a backup of course before making the changes!

regards
paul

That resolved the issue. We did however have some strange DHCP issues after making the change but everything is back up now.

Thanks for your help everyone!!!
