Next issue with the Nortel newbies:

We need to prevent incoming calls to certain phones in the production area, but don't know where to look within the BCM400 documentation to do this.

Anyone have any ideas or need more info?

Our system uses auto-attendant. After 2 rings, the attendant picks up and directs caller either to a dept. or an extension can be called.

This is where someone outside the company can call a production area phone and we need to prevent it.

Does this help?

On the norstars, there is no way of restricting a phone from receiving call without eliminating its ability to function. About the only thing you could do is change the extension number and only let those people know it that need to call it. I am assumming that the problem is with workers receiving outside calls?

Ugh.....

Yes, it's HR policy that no one receive outside calls unless filtered through a manager first. We have sets in the prod area that employees use for internal comm. Too many depts call the number so keeping it a secret is not an option. Of course, rendering the phone inoperable is really not an option either.

Sorry, but until you move up to an option 11, a true pbx, I am not aware of any way to do this.

How many phones need to able to be called from AA? The reason I ask is if it is just a few then you can turn off extension dialing from AA. Then build a CCR Tree for the phones that you want the calls to go through.

Hi Hawks - Not sure if I understand your question. All calls come into the AA. All of our phones (60+) use the AA with a CCR tree to direct callers either to specific depts or to a 3 digit extension.

If extension dialing is something turned off/on for all or none, then I don't believe this will work with the number of phones we have.

You can change all production area DN's to different (examle all office 2xx, production area 4xx) .Then build CCR tree with transfer point key 4 to manager. It must work :)
