I have a BCM400 that I inherited. I am working with Qwest Technicians to get the system online but so far it's been a little frustrating.

They are the Nortel partner, so I have no direct access to nortel help to sort of help the process along.

We can log in as ee_admin to the console, but Apache will not start on the machine. Since apache won't start we can't get into web management to configure the switch.

I don't have the keycodes for the switch. The technician has told me that you can back those up, but only through the web console. I'm wondering if there's a command line way of retrieving the keycode(s) through the console.

Thanks in advance for any help,

Mike

What version of BCM 400 do you have? Are you using Element Manager to interface or Unified Manager?

How did you Access the BCM, though Serial or Web page?. If yo got to the login with ee_admin, what is on the screen now?

This is a Signature and not part of the answer, it appears on every reply.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

We're on version 3.7.

We're logging in via the Serial, we can't access via the web page because Apache isn't starting.

How will I be able to tell if it's Element or Unified manager?

I'm not in front of the box right now, I'll have to relay suggestions to my tech.

If it's 3.7, then it's UM.

Apache not running shouldn't stop you from seeing the main Menu.

Do you know the IP Address? you can't get the Menu if your using the wrong IP address.

Though the Serial port you can find out the IP Address on the 1st menu. I don't have one in from of me, but I think it is Q

What I'm being told is that they can't configure it or do a backup or anything unless they're using the web interface.

The web interface doesn't come up because Apache isn't running.

He would like to reinitialize the system, but is afraid to because I don't have the paper version of our keycodes and I'm not the original owner of the switch.

He says he can see all of the settings but they are grayed out (he can't make changes). Is there something he's missing here?

What version of Java are u using? That could be causing your access issue via IE.

It's not a java issue. There is no web server running on the machine. Apache won't start.

If they are Nortel partner they do have access to the KRS so they will be able to retrieve your keycodes if needed. As well they can download the apache patch and fix your problem. If you want to give it a try yourself, connect using the com port(9600-8-n-1),change the date to any date in 2007 and goto the initialization menu and run the universal profile, it might fix the apache files. You will not loose the telephony programming neither the keycodes.
