Customer has a BCM400 4.0 that has been in since 10/06. We have sheduled backups going to an ftp site and also a USB drive. I went into the system today and found a major alarm that has occured several times. Here it is:
12004 Major - Backup and Restore
Internal error. Could not find associated connection definition.

When I go to Backup, the sceduled tab comes up for a second or two and then I get an error message that says: Unknown Transfer Agent value. Internal error: Unknown Transfer Agent value.

I can't delete and re-enter the scheduled backup info because the tab is gone. Any ideas before I go completely gray?

Did you download Element Manager from THAT BCM? My experience is beginning that the ONLY way to ensure that you can work on a 4.0 or 50 is to use the element manager that is local to that machine.

Painful, yes but it's an upgrade situation, so you don't lose your existing elements.

I have the latest and greatest Element Manager. I don't have any problems that is related to Element Manager with any of our other BCM's.

Latest and greatest isn't always best if the BCM you're working onl isn't completely up to date....I've had to do this in order to apply keycodes and patches, so now as a matter of course, I just re-install BCM element manager every time. Works every time.

I am having the same problem on the BCM 400/4.0, though reinstalling the Element Manager did not resolve the issue ( I completely removed it and reinstalled after patching)

, I am patched to the current
August Smart update.

Any help appreciated

The issue was the Software Management patch. You want to install the new patch. Delete the Software Management patch and download the new one and install and that should take care of the issue.
