Newb here. Hope I'm in the rite place??

Here's my symptom: The customer called in indcating that VM and nite mode are not working.

System is a RAID configured BCM400 3.6

I get to site and notice six flashing lights on the BCM400 BFT. I try to browse into the system via Lan 2 with negative/no results.

Must be bad BFT??? Maybe not. Powered the system down by unplugging the power cord from it :/ and replaced the BFT even though it showed no evidence of the known capping. Repowered and got the same results with new BFT and original MSC installed.

Any feedback on how to resolve/repair the issues is appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

I would try by passing the RAID & powering up with single drive one at a time to see if it is your RAID card or a bad drive.

Good advise pccal. I'm going to get some parts in for next week. Other than a RAID card, HDD, MSC, and PEC's, is there anything else recommended for additional trouble shooting.

Sounds exactly like what I just went through with a failed HD. I have three locations, and two of the HD's failed within 4 weeks of each other.

After several attempts of stabalizing the system via pccal's advise, new HD, new PEC III's, and new RAID controller. The system remained the same.

I put it all back to it's original config. and tried another BFT. The system stabalized and I was very :).

I'm glad that I had two BFT's two work with and should of tested BOTH of them before all the other stuff.

Regards,

Wow that is a real bitch!!! You are very lucky to have had a second BFT to play with. I have been down that road before where you replace something & go off in a different direction only to find that you wasted a lot of time & parts. Thanks for giving us the resolution to your trouble. I find that not enough people let us know what they did to fix their problems.
