voicemail was not working and so were the IP Phones

the onsite person was able to login to UM and did a reboot - the reboot took almost an hour. after that he was not able to login at all in the UM it just hangs in the In progress

Serial port login works, TDM phones work -
can you tell if there is anything else to try before changing the HDD?

I've got a brand new 3.6 doing this exact same thing. I have a ticket open with Nortel now and will let you know what I find.

Maybe a dumb question, but it wasnt stated in your post. Have you tried a hard reboot ??

What version BCM is it ?

on mine a hard reboot would fix it for a day or so. the manufacture date is newer than the range covered by the last product bulliten so Nortel escalated to teir 3. they called today and are going to send a replacement so I can send this one to their lab for further testing. it's a pain to replace it but maybe they will come up with a fix.

yes it was done a couple of times ...

got the HDD ordered will be replacing over the weekend

Have you tried to telnet into it and run a universal profile? (I think you choose choice 1 three times to get to the profile)

Sounds like the infamous base function tray issue - I had one do the same thing recently, and it wasn't covered under the product bulliten that is published. Check for fried capacitors on the base function tray - one on the system I worked on had "puked its guts out" so to speak. Nortel was nice enough to replace it for free though.

in our case it was a HDD - after we threw in a new 3.6 HDD it all became normal

I have one that was manufactured 2005/04/07. Installed it on May 19th and it has failed twice in 48 hours.

Pulled the archlogs and sent them to tier 2. The response was "I could tell you to try to replace hardware piece by piece, but I wouldnt know where to begin....these logs are so corrupted, I can't get anything from them".

Apparently, this one started corrupting itself as soon as we plugged it in.

At least the replacement will be free....too bad Nortel won't reimburse for the labour to reprogramm. :(
