I have a BCM200 which has lost its NIC ports. If I replace the mainboard will my licenses still be valid? I want to pull the configuration off and use Avaya Data Migration Manager to migrate to an IP Office 500v2 platform.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
Bob

curlycord,
when trying to make a backup while connected via oam port using supervisor account and using manager I get denied when trying to backup to computer.

As for ip address issue. I have not restarted bcm yet.
I have tried static and dhcp settings, neither worked.
I did connect laptop to Ethernet cable used by bcm, I was able to receive ip address.

I am going to set dhcp and restart bcm next. I will post results.

I do not understand why you are denied but go under Admin/Alarms and see what is shows for an attempt on a backup.
Try backing up to the USB or FTP.

You could also go under Admin/ServiceManager and try restarting anything LAN, DHCP or Network related items instead of rebooting.

same thing using USB drive when backing up.
"user does not have necessary permission for operation?

I'm using supervisor account via OAM port.

restarted lan service still unable to obtain ip.

I have ordered a used bcm450 r6 bft, should be in today. I will be able to get it re-serialized with Avaya, with promise to migrate to IPO within the next year, which I intend to do.

Hope it works.

ok, now getting somewhere.

Created new account with full permission. Logged in and now able to backup to my laptop.

When complete I will retry LAN settings again. Maybe "supervisor" account was corrupted??

That or just the wrong group membership.

I keep getting thrown off, you have a 450 not a 200....

nnadmin is the default main admin account.
Supervisor is not a default account, somebody must have created it then gave it the wrong membership number so change it to 1009.

Also note that you can factory restore different areas of the BCM to fix corruption.

Admin/Restore/
Restore from Factory Default
Restore (dont worry, be happy)
OK
Then in the popup window uncheck all items except the one/s you want to restore then click OK

My apology.
I thought it was a 200 but when I physically checked in the closet, turned out to me 450. Which thru everything upside down for me.

Can you restore only network related problems? Thats seems to be where my problem is located.

thanks again!

btw, have you worked with Avaya's Data Migration Manager 2.14 to be sued for migrating BCM's to IPO?

Avaya is a bad word for me....try the Avaya forum, if they have their own migration software then I wouldn't know about it.

You will see the full list of what can be restored.

Anyone have any idea why DMM will not work? Keep getting IP Address error, when using either DMM 1.1 for different BCM versions and DMM 2.4 for BCM to IPO Migrations.
I can log into Element Manager. I'm on a local subnet.
Any ideas?

Thanks

DMM has been a PIA ever since they introduced it. It has only worked once for me in all the times I tried using it. Most times, it caused more trouble than what is was worth! I won't touch it now!

I don't even understand why anyone would move from a 450 to an IPO when you could go to an emetrotel UCX and reuse the entire BCM450 hardware and the Nortel sets. Everything will work about 90% the way it works now and cost a lot less money.

Your choice though so good luck with whatever you choose to do.
