How many extentions and lines can the bcm expand to? What is the maxixmum capacity?

It all depends on what you have for trunking. If you have no physical trunks in the system (all VOIP trunks for example), you could have 192 digital sets. You have 6 DS-30 loops in the BCM for resources (digital/analog sets and trunks). If you have one T-1, you could have 160 digital sets.

Figure on 32 digital stations per bus, or 16 analog trunks, one T-1, or 32 analog stations (with a ASM 8+ card). But you can't mix and match devices on the same bus.

With 2 T1's, you could have 128 digital sets, etc....

Don't forget about those 90 IP stations that you can add on there (assuming a BCM400), although I'm not sure if you wouldn't see some smoke curling out of there from the processor if you load it up with over 200 stations (IP and digital), voicemail, trunking and maybe a couple of ACD groups for good measure. Just because you can add it, doesn't mean that the processor can handle it. I'm sure you would want to double up on the PECs as well.

Can anyone share the most loaded BCM that they have ever deployed and/or worked on? From a practical standpoint, what is the system capable of?

You could also use an expansion gateway chassis with 60 VoIP trunks on both chassis and 2 PRI modules in the expansion. Maximizes your sets on the main chassis and still allows 2 PRI's.

The biggest system I have is a BCM 400 with 4 DSM32+ and 2 DTM modules with 12 IP handsets. It runs well but you have to watch how you configure your VM ports and various other parameters. The system is using PCM,unified messaging and fax messaging. We have put additional ram in the box for the LAN CTE and the system has a total of 4 mspecs but it runs fine no problems.

You can have a maximum of:
90 IP sets,
60 IP trunks,
32 imbedded ports for Voice Mail applications,
270 target lines,
Default of 6 external busses with 32 ports per bus.
Every analog trunk takes up two ports each.
Every digital station takes up either one or two ports each, depending on the type of module you install.
Every DTI module occupies one bus.
That's all I can remember.

i was just checking out the NNEC 6.3.1.2 for the BCM (US)
is there a bug in it - or the capacity has increased?

It is allowing me for the foll config
192 digital stations
3 PRIs
58 IP Phones

(it doesnt allow 59 IP Phones)

Sounds like a bug, unless three more DS-30 loops appeared out of nowhere...
