I thought that r5 was coming out for the BCM400 platform. I can't seem to find an upgrade keycode part # so I was wondering if this is something real, will eventually be real in a short time, vaporware, or only a product of my wishful thinking & overactive imagination.

Not a just a simple s/w upgrade. Upgrade will consist of h/w upgrade kit.Essentially u'll be turning your 400 into a 450. Think it's expected in the new yr. 5.0 has been released for the bcm50 and possibly 450.

BCM 400 is being Discontinued being replaced by the 450. I don't know if they quit shipping 400's yet or not.

Dang. Didn't realize. Any word on a MSRP for that?

Even tho the 200/400 have been MD'd, Nortel will still support it if upgraded to 5.0 as per the Nortel Webinar held in Sept.

Hmmm I was under the impression there was no upgrade path to 5.0 on the 400 But there you go there is a path. . .

Dasheen, do you have any more info on this HW/SW upgrade path? I am getting ready to roll out a BCM400 implementation and I would love to know if I can hold out for this upgrade.

you replace the 400 BFT and MSC card with a 450 tray.
You replace the CIC base card with a new CIC to line up withe the 450 BFT.
You replace the Hard drive with a 450 hard drive.
upgrade keycode:

Basically you are left with the 400 chassis, power supply, fan, MBMs.
All the other components are replaced with 450 components.
Up

Reprogramme system from scratch.
Alot of down time to upgrade from 400 to 450.

I belive it to be about $2500 for the hardware and software upgrade kit

I believe that the Data Migration tool that will help migrate from BCM 4.0 to BCM 5.0 will be released in December or early January. Should cut down the upgrade time by a bit.

With the upgrade kit, your BCM 200/400 is essentially the same as a BCM450 from a processing capacity perspective.
