Is it possible and how to connect a BCM to a mics(do have a t-1/pri card) so that I can dial extentions on both ends and voice call to/from both ends. I have a private t1 with cisco 1751's on both ends. I currently have the mics and a 8x24 connected through loopstart lines through the router, however this is limited and we must now expand. One key is that the traffic between site limitation can only be by bandwidth itself and not by a set number of tie line. What I need to know is will I be able to make the BCM aware of the mics or should I use a BCM50 instead of the MICS? Can I just connect the two to a network as I would an pc and point them to eachother. If anyone has any other ideas please let me know.

Thanks

you can tie them using various methods - the following interface options are possible

T1
PRI
E&M
IP Network using VoIP Gateway

Still not clear what u are tring to do

You can get different cards for your cisco 1751s and intergrate it in different ways other than the the tie cards for the 1751s.

One option would be to upgrade to two BCMs and use the cisco infrastructure and add VOIP trunks to your BCM systems. That way the only interface you would require is ethernet. The limitation would be the bandwidth of your T1 and the number of VOIP trunks you buy. (Max 60 lines)

The other option would be to add a BCM and upgrade the Norstar by adding a VOIP Gateway. I do not know if you have to have a specific version of Norstar to intergrate with VOIP gateway. I have no idea how many Trunks you get with it either. But someone here will know I am sure.

I already have a setup simular to a VOIP Gateway using my cisco routers. There is to much limitation that route. Is the VOIP trunks on a BCM an key code option or standard. The best option for my needs is to use our current ethernet network. What I am looking for is there a way to achive this with a BCM and a MICS v5x. We currently have a T1 for data that I wish to use. It works fine now for voice. E&M will not have the functionality that I need.

the only (nortel) way you can transport norstar calls on a data network (Ethernet handoff) is using the VoIP gateway

each gateway gives 4 channels and in the BCM VOip trunks are keycode licensed

How does the Voip Trunks function with the BCM? Can I voice call from on site to the other, along with other simular features.

Hi Pherr

The BCM works like this

Ethernet T1 Ethernet
BCM----------Cisco 1751_____________Cisco 1751----------BCM

BCM uses the VOIP trunks to send the voice packets through the Cisco infrastructure. You need to have the VOIP trunks to facilitate this function. This is licensed and you buy the number of lines you require. They come in 2,4,8,16 etc right up to 60 lines. The amount of lines you will require will be dependent on the quality of the T1 and codec you will be using on the WAN.The BCM connects to the cisco infrastructure with the inbuilt LAN on the BCM.

I hope this helps
