I am setting up my very first BCM for a dog and pony show. My switch is very basic. A BCM 3.5 with only a 4 x 16 module. My dilemna is, I am to connect this to a third party messaging system for testing and not use call pilot. My question is, how would I sucessfully connect my BCM to this other system? Any ideas leading me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

the only way you can is to get analog set integration ...
to any 3rd party voicemail ... you need to figure out what are the tones the bcm accepts for signalling

Are you trying to find a 3rd party voice mail system to work on BCM?

Yes, I am setting up a Octel 250 for possible integration to my BCM 3.5. Dont ask me why they want this? My system is configured with a 4 x 16 Module and that is it. No analog ports at all. I would imagine that to do this, I will have to have some analog ports.

I have not used OCTEL Vmail before but; In another 3rd party voicemail (Revere) they installed Dialogic cards which actually simulate a Nortel 7310 telephone and use a digital port not analogue. It worked OK for basic voicemail. It did not stand up well to heavy use of Auto attendant.

Sooperbohl, that is a strange combination. Why are they not just using a Norstar instead of a BCM to interface with the third party messaging? The Call Pilot built into the BCM is what makes it more cost effective. Did they just have a BCM lying around? Just curious. $$$$$$

Yes it is a strange combination. The customer is testing a new service from a vendor called AVST. Im not exactly sure what it does but it has something to do with voice messaging. You can check out their web page to see more of what they do. This is only for testing integration at this point.

Don't spin your wheels, AVST is working on an integration to the BCM but there is nothing available as of yet. Normally they use digital set emulation for the integration but clearly the BCM is not the same animal as the Norstar or M1. You may want to check AVST's web site at from time to time.
