Just installed an expansion cabinet with a G4X16 module. Installed license. In Telephony Resources I set the card to 4x16, clicked enable (lines and sets). The card seems to have stalled saying "enabling". Left it for 30 minutes, still "enabling". How long does it take?

Thanks.

A few times I've had to reboot the bcm to make it act right after adding an expansion.

Well I've tried all suggestions.

Plugged in a phone it just flashes.
Disabled the expansion module re-enabled. BEM just says "enabling"
Rebooted... same thing.

I'm wondering? Is there a special interconnection cord or just is it just a standard Ethernet? The reason I ask is when I plug a cord in between the main cab and the expansion module the lights on the expansion stops flashing, but the light on the expansion port on the main cab does not come on.

Answering my own question. Talked to a buddy of mine, An ordinary Ethernet cable won't work. So calling my supplier because they didn't ship the cord with the module.

Yeah, its mostly a regular cat 5, but its a measured shielded cable and used for TDM - nothing ethernet-like is happening on it. It is much more sensitive.

So kyle555 you're saying my bud is correct then.

Yes that's what happened to me last time, they were all off.

I wanted to interject that I tested 2 BCM50 expansions with 4x16 MBM's I just received this morning. I used a standard Cat5 cable. Both modules came up in about 30 seconds after I enabled them. The trunk modules also both updated their firmware from the BCM50. I had all 6 switches on the left set to on, and all 8 switches on the right set to off.

You know the expansion module came loaded with the 4x16. I never thought to check the dip switches. Will do so next opportunity to go to the client.

Update: Still can't get it working, can't even remove the MBM to check the DIP switches, it's jammed in. The whole kit and caboodle is going back to the supplier for replacement.

That long arm metal mechanism is not the best design but sometimes turning it on one side or another or upside down or shaking it while at the same time trying to punch and pull the tab in the front might help.
I had to take the cover off once and move the bloody arm.
