BCM 50 not communicating via OAM port and Ethernet port

This is my first BCM 50, had to program it the old way. But I sure would love to connect via eighter port but don't seem to be able.

What could cause this? Via the OAM and via my Explorer web browser, 10.10.11.2. Via the Lan 192.168.1.2 when plugged direct?

Nothing, any guidance?

set your lan port on your pc/laptop to obtain IP address automatically.

Connect either a straight or x-over cable from your pc to OAM.

Open IE and browse to 10.10.11.1 to get the BCM50 Welcome screen

Well lets see for starters to connect via the OAM you can use a straight through cable and the BCM will assign your PC an IP address in the subnet. If you are using a crossover, be sure that you are using subnet 255.255.255.252. If you are trying to go over the LAN, be sure that the BCM is setup for DHCP server otherwise you wont be able to connect. Best thing to do is open Element Manager and and choose Find New BCM and let Element Manager find the system for you.

None of the last 2 above solution worked, should have, will try it again.

Does my anti virus have anything to do with or the windows security feature.

Dumb question, if I'm trying over the Lan, who does one setup for DHCP server if I can't get in the BCM?

Try this, plug in a straight through cable to the OAM port. After you connect, go to start, run and type cmd and enter. Once you come to the command line type ipconfig and press enter. See what ip address and subnet your PC is coming up with.

Go to START > RUN > type CMD > OK

Now try to ping, type:

via OAM: ping 10.10.11.1

via LAN port 1: 192.168.1.2

Then check the IP settings for your PC:

START > RUN > type CMD > OK

type: ipconfig
