I cannot install bcm50 element manager on a windows 2003 server machine. Is this supported? Has anyone successfully done this? Thanks.

It was a java error. I will get the details asap

maybe this is a problem with your java runtime environment. did you install the latest JRE before installing the element manager?

Nortel tech support told me just the opposite. They told me element manager works best with JRE 1.42. I Uninstalled 1.5 to go to 1.42.

it works fine for me with java 1.5.
but did this help?

i'm getting the same error when trying to install the element manager on windows vista.
maybe server 2003 is also not supported?!?

I was able to get this program working on a Windows 2003 Server by right-clicking BCMElementMgrInstaller.exe -> Properties -> Compatibility and then choosing "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" = Windows XP.

The problem appears to be only with the installer file itself, a third-party packaging program was used to make the install EXE. Reading some posts from that vendors website it appears that older packages will not work correctly under 2003 or Vista.

Someone please try this and confirm for me if you had any luck.

Thanks.

BCM RUMORS..??

I heard a rumor that the BCM product line is going away.
No future enhancements-etc.
Has anyone else heard of this??
