Has anyone had problems with echo on anlog lines with IP sets (1120E & 1140E)have tried different codec with no results. Wondering what trunk tuning is?

believe its a know issue...why have ip sets and anaolg lines..should have just bought a CICS..try bcm forum

Try setting lines to long CO.

When in doubt RTFM (read the friggin manual)

Nortel has released a document on Managing echo on BCM and SRG Installations. Goes into detail how to configure a bcm when using IP sets to access analog trunks. I've used their recommended settings in this document and haven't had any issues to date.

Optimizing VoIP Settings for BCM

-Media Parameters (CODEC, Payload size, and jitter)

- CODEC
The optimum setting for VoIP calls is G711 CODEC
G711-ulaw (North America)
G711-alaw (European E1)

- Payload Size
When using a G711 CODEC, a payload size of 20ms is recommended. For G729 and G723 CODECs, a payload size of 30ms is sufficient.

- Jitter
Jitter should always be set to "small"

Configuration > Resources > Telephony Resources > Media Parameters

-TAT/TRO

Trunk Anti-Tromboning (TAT) and Trunk Route Optimization (TRO) should be enabled when using Multiple BCMs interconnected with private networking (route types of "private")

Configuration > Telephony > Dialing Plan > Private Network

-ECAN

ECAN w/NLP should always be selected when attempting to minimize echo.

Configuration > Resources > Media Gateways

-IP Terminal Properties

The CODEC settings for IP sets and IP trunks may be different; therefore it is important these settings be verified for IP sets as well.

Configuration > Resources > Telephony Resources > IP & Application Sets > IP Terminal Global Settings
