Hello All - have an application question and need to know if something works. Same customer with two locations - BCM 450 at each. I want to do three digit dialing between the two. How do I make this happen if some of the extension numbers are the same? Site A is existing with Voice Messaging. Site B will be a new install. If I have Voice Messaging at Site B do I need MCDN? Can I just use VOIP trunks? Any insight would be appreciatted - thanks!

When you go from 3 digit to 4 digit DN's the system will add a 2 in front of the existing DN's. This will keep all the telephony programming in place. This will make it easy for the users. With Voice Mail you will have to do a re-install and reprogram by hand.

The new site you can start up the system with 3xxx as the DN range and program the routing as needed.

Are you changing the extensions or going the public rout & desti option for each site? If you are not using Centralized voicemail you do not have to have the MCDN or CDP set up. As people here have said in the long run and admin wise it might be better to use them but bottom line is you don't have to. You can build a desti code for each site and rout the call that way.

You need MCDN if you plan to transfer calls back and forth between sites. If you don't then you will start stacking up VoIP trunks instead of the system tearing down the un-needed ones. If you have just a few VoIP trunks this can cause a busy issue. Buy it now or Buy it later. I have tried taking this shortcut just once and will never do it again.
