Greetings:

Have a situation in an office receptionist setting.

Phone is configured for

2 intercom keys
and
2 line appearances - set to ring only.

DND Busy is off
FWD No Answer is set to VM DN
Fwd Delay is set to 4
FWD Busy is blank

Situation:

Call 1 comes in and in answered
Call 2 comes in and rings in background - goes to VM if unanswered

Issue arises if/when a call on 1/2 is on hold and is talking to call 1/2 and call 3 comes in - caller gets busy signal

My intent is for the 3rd(4th, 5th etc calls) to go to voice mail

She does not want to try to manage more than 2 calls at one time so I want to avoid adding an appearance or intercom key if necessary. I just simply want excess call to go to VM.

Is this possible and what is the best practice way of accomplishing this?

TIA

PS Also what is the relationship between line appearances and intercom keys, do they or do they not go hand in hand?

If both intercom keys are in use your phone is busy which is why a 3rd caller gets a busy signal. Why not program the lines to be answered by the AA after x-amount of rings? If phone is busy and u want calls to go to mail instead of busy signal u need to program fwd busy.

>>> Why not program the lines to be answered by the AA after x-amount of rings?

I didn't mention an AA because I didn't know it was relevant but, it does - this is after the caller chooses the menu option and gets to this DN, or am I not understanding your question correctly

>>>If phone is busy and u want calls to go to mail instead of busy signal u need to program fwd busy.

This causes the phone to react just like DND on busy, with the exception of going to voice mail, directly after the first call, and not the second like requested in the OP

You need add more intercom keys...
and more appearances for DID calls

Thanks for the reply...

So what you're telling me is there is now way to just have the third call go to voice mail and that the receptionist is just going to have to manage more calls?

Yes...

If you have a call, the second call wait for no answer time, then goes to VM
same to 3,4,5 etc calls...
