I have an Avaya BCM 450 6.0. I am attempting to setup an i2004 telephone. I have the BCM connected to the lan and I can connect to it with Element Manager. When checking telephony resources it shows 1 ip set enabled.
When I apply power to the i2004 it eventually gives me the message 'New Set, Registration Password, PW: and is waiting for me to input a password. When checking telephony resources and clicking on ip sets I do not get the option to set system wide password or anything like that. Does the BCM450 come with one ip phone licence by default? I am stuck.

So what do you see at the bottom under the IP Terminal Global Settings tab then?
Do you see Enable registration etc? do you even see that tab?

How many lP clients do you see under System/Keycodes?

There is a default password you can enter, passwords not allowed on forums so read the manuals which are on the BCM itself or google such.

The fact that the BCM is asking for a password tells you that you are able to register the IP phone. The password is by default 2264 short for BCMI. The password is often changed and it's done in Element Manager via the Configuration tab then select Resources followed by Telephony Resources and finally Internal IP Sets.

Under the tab IP Terminal Global Settings, make sure that Enable Registration and Enable global registration password tabs are ticked and change the Global password using digits. You might need to have the Support Remote Worker box ticked if you have the NAT keycode in the license.

Okay, I guess I was doing everything correct...the problem seems to be that I never was able to get the 'IP Terminal Global Settings' tab. Whenever I got to telephony resources and clicked on ip sets, the only option was 'configure or de-configure'. I was able to register phone with default pw which I searched for in the documentation but could never find. The phone is up and working and when I go back to telephony resources and highlight ip set I still only get the option to 'configure or deconfigure'...go figure! No, 'IP Terminal Global Settings' tab. My only thought is it might be the release of my Element Manager which is 60.3.0. The BCM 450 is 6.0. Anyway, I have to thank you guys for your quick responses. I really didn't think anyone paid any attention to the BCM anymore.

I think you have answered your own question as older versions of EM won't display all the options. You need to download the latest release.

It's at

Also don't update your Java. The latest releases from around release 8 issue 66 onward's causes grief as you can't access any BCM sites.

What is the release of Element Manager that I should be using with BCM 450 rel 6.0? Also, you said not to update my Java...too late.

EM 62.0.5 was the final release. You might have to remove your version of java if you can't connect. Please refer to a thread on this that we started.
