Hello,
The company I work for has handed me this system with the password and the IP address to access the system. They handed it to me in several boxes. I have installed several Nortel and Avaya systems but this one I would like to learn. I know that the system programming is accessed through your browser. But I have it on my test bench and want to log into it directly form my laptop and see what I can do with it. I have changed my IP range to the same range as the BCM and tried connecting through a cross over cable to the port marked 1 and my laptop doesn't see it. I also do not have the expansion mod connected to the main cabnet with the special cable supplied by Nortel. Does that make a difference? What should I do? Once I am in the system I can read the documentation that is on the BCM and figure most of it out. Thanks in advance.

Are you getting the main menu though the IP? if not JAVA isn't your problem.

Put your xover cable into port 2, on your web browser type 10.10.11.1. you should get the main menu. if not

I know your user name say's it/is management but when you do ipconfig from cmd line what do you get?

Man we are really bad. This is our day off and we are still working on issues. I guess we are dedicated. I am not getting anything through the cross over. It says that the page can not be displayed. But I can ping it from the cmd prompt. I know it says management. But when I found this site I was not sure what all the names meant. I have been working on all types of switches since 93. This is my first BCM. I have installed several CICS's and MICS's and have liked both platforms. So I was really excited to get my hands on a BCM. I changed my IP to 10.10.11.2 to keep it in the same range as the BCM. That is why it doesn't make any sence that I can ping it but can't connect through explorer. I thought my Java settings were off. Let me know what you guys think I should do and I will try it on Monday and get back to you. Have a good holiday.

When you ping 10.10.11.1 what do you get when you ipconfig?

you should get 10.10.11.2 then open the browser an enter 10.10.11.1, you should then get the main menu.

acewarlock,

I tried everything you have asked from the old PC and it would not connect. So I used my old one and made all the changes to config it to connect and it connected the first time. I am going to see what is the difference in the two PC's are so I will know in the future. Both have XP so I am not sure. But I can connect right to it. Thank you all for your help. When all else fails use another computer.

Thanks again.
