I'm going to try this again since someone hijacked my first thread.

I have a BCM 400 version 3.7. The configuration is as follows:

(2)DSM16+ modules sharing bus 2
(6)GATM8 modules using buses 3-5
(2)DTMs using buses 6 & 7

7316E phones with 2 KIMs per phone. The DSM16+ utilizing the second half of bus 2 only ever sees one KIM. If I set the DSM to a different bus it sees both KIMs. I have to have both on the same bus since there's no extra resources available with this configuration.

Can anyone supply a reason why this doesn't work?

Are you sure you have the DIPS set right?

List them for all

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

For BUS 2 they should be

1st 16+ off on on on on on
2nd 16+ off on off on on on

The version is 3.7 build 2.4f. I believe patches are installed up through service release 2.
Dip switch settings for all modules are as follows:

DSM16+ off on on on on on
DSM16+ off on off on on on
GATM8 on on on on on off
GATM8 on off on on on off
GATM8 on on on on off on
GATM8 on off on on off on
GATM8 on on on on off off
GATM8 on off on on off off
DTM on on on off on on
DTM on on on off on off

There doesn't appear to be any resource conflicts, all modules and lines appear. All phones can be seen just not the second KIM by the second DSM.

Have you tried swapping the 2 phones/KIM's to see if they work then?

Check the Rls on the phones and the KIM's

Yep, tried it, I've tried everything I can think of.
I removed the DTM on 7 and then set the DSM to 7. The second KIM shows up in the resources immediately as long as the DSM doesn't have to share.

Have you swapped the DIP settings on the 2 DSM 16+?

Yes I have, I've also moved them to bus 3 and put the GATMS set to bus 3 on bus 2.

I'm sitting here waiting for Nortel's tier 2 support to get on a conference call with me and the vendor's tech. Don't know if you've ever had the pleasure of dealing with Nortel tech support but usually it's pure torture. :(

I have for over 25 years.

I've had strange issues with set indexes in the past doing strange things with addons and KIMs. Only way to see the set indexes is through feature **debug, which requires a password of the day to access. You may want to run that by the support people. You'd have to find a port with a set index of less than 255, then move the phone to that port with set relocation disabled, then renumber/reprogram the set.

Or you could guess at a port that might have a lower set index. Swap phones with a set thats been there for a while, again with set relocation off, otherwise the set index stays with the port. Renumber the DN, reprogram buttons, target lines, etc. If it doesn't work then high set indexes aren't your issue.

Then again, this might not be your issue at all, but it might be worth mentioning.

The offsets are wrong for the 16+
Offset 0 is on on on on on on
offset 1 is on on off on on on

The info I post before I got from a Nortel slide Presentation, which I now see is incorrect. I put my 3.6 Doc CD into my PC and checked the dip setting and found they should be.

the 1st DSM16+ uses 1/2 BUS offset o. All Dips ON
the 2nd DSM16+ usea 1/2 BUS offset 1. 2 OFF rest ON

Correction to my last post. I should stop 2nd guessing my self and stick with my 1st answer.

lrucker and I were right with our original dip switch settings which are for a double Density Mod DSM 16+.

cook1082 your setting are for a single density Mod.

Also lrucker: can I ask why your using 48 Analog trunks for 32 phones, plus 2 T1's???????

lrucker: also check that you are set for Full double Density and NOT Partial Double Densit as will though everything off and that might be the problem.

Well it's not my configuration, it's what the customer apparently needs. There's actually only 10 phones on the system. There are 5 on each DSM for redundancy, if one module goes down they only lose half the positions.

I believe they have 40+ CAMA and analog lines and I don't know what they are doing with the T1s.

I supervise a configuration department that programs the BCM per the customer specifications as part of a CTI platform used primarily in 9-1-1 call centers. The entire system will be shipped to the site for install. That is if I can ever get it to work.

Yep full double density.

acewarlock,
You said you've dealt with Nortel Tech Support for 25 years. So is there a secret to getting real help and in a timely manner? My vendor opened a trouble ticket with Nortel last Friday. I finally talked to the Nortel tech today and all I can say is there's 2 hours I'll never get back. He remoted in, really didn't do anything, had no suggestions and finally after all that had me pull log files and upload them. I could have done that days ago.
It seems like they have a script and if the answer isn't there, they don't know what to do.

In all my years of dealing with Nortel, it seems like I always knew more then the Nortel Techs I was working with and bacicaly I just needed there blessing to get the parts I need from Repair. I guess after working with me so long they knew I knew what I was talking about. I have a Site ID and a Tech ID and I never waited more than 5 min on line.
