We were able to access the system without fail via the web browser until we changed the ip address of the BCM, we put the address back to what it previously was but still cannot connect. We can ping and telenet into the system but cannot use the browser. Have rebooted several times without any luck. Any advice appreciated.
Thanks
Tom

This is a Signature and not part of the answer, it appears on every reply.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

tried that one already, no luck.
Thanks
Tom

Try plugging a monitor/keyboard to the BCM and rebooting it, maybe you'll see some useful information about failures in the booting process

Tried to apply patches this evening without any success; recieved "FTP server in BCM cannot be located" error. Running out of options and ideas...praying for a lightning strike :)

here's the cherry on top of this sundae.....just found out that there are now a few people locked out of their mailboxes.....no way to reset without the browser

Are you using a laptop or PC connected directly to the system? Maybe you have a bad NIC card on the PC or laptop.

What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger.

Can you call the Vmail and hear it answer?
sounds like you may have the bad CAPS problem.

Using both laptop with crossover cable and network pc.....can ping and telnet both ways.
VM is working fine as well as Outlook integration, personal fax, etc...
Would agree with the bad caps except that this issue began as soon as we changed the ip of box

Disconnect the BCM from the LAN. Reboot it. Then give your laptop a static in the same subnet and try connecting via a x-over cable.

If you can then connect after the reboot, you have an IP conflict somewhere in the LAN.

update..just spoke with the distributor the customer purchased the system from and their tech support and their opinion is a hard drive failure

As a follow up I don't see how it could be the hd with this issue being the only sympton.
Tom

That's usually a cop-out because you can't dispute it until a replacement doesn't cure the symptom. More often than not, it merely starts to cast doubt on the vendor's ability.

Did you try like I asked above and what was the result? Are you able to run a packet capture and see if the thing is actually responding to the web requests?

That's my thinking as well.....did try the reboot and connecting via crossover with the same result. I can ask the IT guy to run a packet capture. Thanks for the reply.
Tom

If it were a HD failure, your vmail wouldn't work at all.

Have you tried logging in via the serial port and changing the IP back to the previous IP that u were using before the problem started or putting it back to default?

Hate to ask but have you checked your cross-over cable? Could you have a bad patch cable?

Run the packet capture on your laptop while connected via X-ovr. That will tell you immediately the BCM is responding to your http requests.

thanks for the direction....is packet capture the same as packet sniffer?
Tom

thanks for the link, we'll try it out but I don't think that's it since we were able to access prior to changing the IP on the BCM.
Thanks
Tom
