BCM 400 Message Waiting Light

I have a BCM 400 where one of the phones message waiting indicator light doesn't turn on when someone leaves a message. The only way he ever sees it is if the user goes into the CallPilot desktop messenger and listens to the message on his PC. They do have the option to pull a caller out of voice mail when they are in the process of leaving a message. Is it possible that's what's causing this? How do I correct this?
 
No, the VM feature 987 that pulls callers out of voice mail is not the cause of the problem.

There is an option in each mailbox, using the CallPilot manager, to enable/disable the MessageWaitingIndicator (MWI).
You would need to login to the CallPilot to check that out.

That's where I'd start first. If you need, provide additional info.
 
I wonder if this problem is related: My MWI lamps turns on when a message is placed in voicemail, as I would expect. But then it turns off a few minutes later, seemingly spontaneously. I can sit and watch the phone and, without touching the phone or in any way interacting with it, the lamp goes out. In Outlook, the call changes from "unread" to "read." I have no idea what's causing it. I just know we're missing messages.
 
There is a patch available for BCM 3.6 which addresses problems with messages being marked read by the Unified Messaging Client. That will turn off the MWI on your phone. Could also be the Outlook Preview Pane causing problems.

Try the preview pane first, if that doesn't work, download the new UM client and install that.
 
I just learned that our MWI lamps were being turned off by Google Desktop. I removed Google Desktop from our PCs, and all is fine. We're running BCM 3.7. I don't know if there's a patch.
