I have a customer who is BCM400, Rls 4.0. They are going to BCM450, Rls 6.0. The 450 box software level is listed as "10.0.1.02.120". What level is this? It came with a Rls 1.0 to 5.0 to 6.0 software kit. And do I have to upgrade it to 6.0 before I do the migration?

I would upgrade the 450 to rls 6 and make sure that it functions the way it is suppose to. Then go ahead and Migrate the codes over from the 400. Make sure that you send the MSC from the 400 to Avaya and they should send you a blank one back. If you don't then they will bill you for all the codes that are on the 400.

I believe you'll have to pay the GPPC "Repair Charge" in order to get a MSC returned from Avaya. They will want a PO for that amount enclosed in the package with the MSC you're shipping back. If you don't need a replacement MSC just get a RMA and ship the old one back within 30 days of migrating the keycodes.

how long should it take for a upgraded 400 to 450 boot up? Vendor just changed out hardware and it has not booted up after an hour.

Five minutes or so should be enough. You can connect a serial cable to the serial port and use Hyperterm to monitor the boot process. I think it's a 115k connection by fefault.

450 never booted, the Vendor determined in was a DOA. Possibly the hard drive slot. Put the 400 back together.
Had to remove power supply to install the main board. Next time he is going to leave the two screws behind the power supply out.
At least the patches to the 400 and the data export was succesful.
The patches and export took 3 hours. The hardware and problems not booting... another 5 hr.
The equipment room is air conditioned and basically a clean evironment. The CPU fan and heat sink on the old system was filled with dirt. It has been in production since 2007. A little cleaning should be scheduled now and then.

Check to see what kind of hard drive you got with your upgrade kit. I just did a 400 to 450 Migration and received a BCM 50 450 Multi-Image FRU hard drive. I had to connect with serial cable and choose the R6 image to load. Went through 3 different reboots while it loaded the image, but came out fine.
