basically, my bcm400 system is not working properly. telephone system works however we cannot access the bcm system either from network or straight connecting monitor, keyboard and mouse. when we put monitor, it freezes at windows nt blue screen. (green light at the front flashes for couple of minutes and then stabilise but 3 of them still doesnt work)
in the blue screen, system load up dots but it stop after certain point. i tried to choose 'maintain OS' mode to try to access at last know good configuration but it still does nto work.
HELP PLEASEE!! F1 F1 F1 !!!

Thanks you for your help inadvance.

Deweyhumbolt: Could you explain how to connect to the BCM via the internal modem if possible please.

acewarlock: I am not sure mate, cant we access the firewall setting via the serial cable? or even reset it up?

Regards

Have you tried both LAN ports?

Sometimes you have to switch back and forth on the LANs to get then to work.

When you swithc LANs do you do a ipconfig to verify your Laptop is on the same IP range? just because your plugged in to the LAN doesn't mean you on the same IP Range.

This is a Signature and not part of the answer, it appears on every reply.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

There is an RJ11 connection on front of BCM. You plug in ordinary Loop Start dialtone. You set up a Dialup Networking Session, it will require a username and password, (same as BCM). When it connects, open your browser and use the IP 10.10.14.1.

It obviously takes longer, but you have access to everything you have via LAN, and the changes you made to LAN will not apply. Hence, you can eliminate your changes, and re-access through LAN.

Thanks for the replies,

I have connect via the internal modem and was able to ping the ip 10.10.14.1, howeever when I put that on internet explorer it doesnt open anything.. any ideas?

Cheers

Have you verifed the NEXT HOP IP, if it doesn't match the one you have as the Published IP it won't work. I had made this change twice before I finally got smart.

The lan settilng on the bcm are as follow:

Lan1: 192.168.0.10
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

Lan2: 10.10.11.1
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

Next Hub: 192.168.0.1
DNS 192.168.0.1
Domain Name: I-BCM

My PC Setting:
192.168.0.8
255.255.255.0

I can ping my pc from the BCM command line when connected via serial, however I can't ping the BCM from my PC.

Also I can ping the BCM from my PC when connectd via modem and vice versa but I can't access the web interface it says page not found.

Any ideas!!

Cheers guys

I have found putting a Domain Name: in causes problems, try removing it and see if it works then.

I can't remove it as it dosn't accept a null value when connected via serial.
I am assuming that there is a problem in the apache, that is why the web interface doesn't work.. any suggestions on how to check it?
Also do you think I can reset the firewall setting via the command line or by connecting the hard drive to another PC and changing some files?

Regards,

I am including some of the System Event Log, it seems that there is an issue with the network driver! not really sure.

Have you tried Lan2: 10.10.11.1 on your PC and make sure the PC IP address range is correct by doing IP CONFIG from Command Line?

and then use IE.

in regards to the Explorer page not displaying--

You may want to check your version on Java and/or use the preinstalled java link after you load it from the intall clients page

You must be using Java 1.5 or below unless you have the patch for it.
