hi
i have been spending hours on the net searching for solution and this forum seems to have the most useful information and experienced people.
basically, my bcm400 system is not working properly. telephone system works however we cannot access the bcm system either from network or straight connecting monitor, keyboard and mouse. when we put monitor, it freezes at windows nt blue screen. (green light at the front flashes for couple of minutes and then stabilise but 3 of them still doesnt work)
in the blue screen, system load up dots but it stop after certain point. i tried to choose 'maintain OS' mode to try to access at last know good configuration but it still does nto work.
HELP PLEASEE!! F1 F1 F1 !!!

Thanks you for your help inadvance.

You can't do much on the keyboard and monitor configuration. Do you know what release of software is on the BCM?

When you say network are you connecting directly to the BCM with a crossover or is it connected to your network?

It's either bad BFT, if this just started happening you can reboot and get back for maybe a day. Or, the hardrive is gone, and no amount of rebooting will help.

Does the Vmail function?

Could be but it sounds like it is booting fine. But they might not be connecting to the system right.

That's why I want to know if Vmail is working. If it's working the bottle is probably right, if it's not?

What Rls is it?
Which LEDs are not lite?
Can you access Vmail when this happens?
Have you been able to access this system before?

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

Thanks guys for your replies,

I was able to log into the system last week, I was working on the voice over IP (trying to get it to work)..

Yesterday I tried to connect and it didn't connect, I can't even ping the ip.

I have Lan1 on the Local network range: 192.168.0.10
Lan2 I've assigned a public static IP (for VOIP)

The BCM is connected to our network, however I also tried to connect it to a laptop using a cross over cable.

Also I've tried to connect to a router and the router to a PC, the router device list showed the bcm on its devices list but still can't ping those IPs.

Some information about the system:

1. BMC400 running 3.7V & I am not sure if any patches has been applied.
2. I can get into the VM and it works fine(from any handset).
3. Also the board has been changed 2 months ago for bad BFT.
4. Lights: All the Lights are on except the hard drive which blink some times and the "2" which is off.

Thanks again guys.

When you were working on Voip, did you change any LAN settings? If you did, and rebooted with network cables connected that may be your problem.

Disconnected any network cables and reboot. Only connect the cables back in when all led's on the front are solid.

NCSS, NCDS, NCTS

Yes I did some changes on the lan seetings and cable were connected, I've just rebooted the system with network cables disconnected, reconnected them once all the lights were solid but still can't ping.

Cheers

It seems like all the experts are from US and everyone is sleeping.

Thanks for everyones reply however we still have the problem. any ideas, suggestions?

Try to get in with dial tone on modem port. That will bypass all LAN. IP 10.10.14.1

Do you have the right LAN set as the Published IP. and also the next Hop

Thank you guys for the replies.

Deweyhumbolt: How would I do that please.. I am not really sure.

acewarlock: I think I had them right.. is there anyway to check them without loging into the BCM?

regards,

Hello guys,

I have managed to connect via the serial cable.. all IP's are fine. I can even ping my PC from the BCM however I still not able to ping the BCM from my PC...

I am not sure what is the problem, I am thinking that it might be a firewall issue!! however I cant change firewall rules or see it from the HyperTerminal.. any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

Again, My boss one time locked us out of a BCM in San Diego by messing with Firewall and Policy issues on BOTH LANs. Not real smart. I used the internal modem, accessed the BCM and elminated his changes. Problem solved.
