Hello all,

Just having an issues with BCM400, all the phones are working ok, the voice mail and other features are not working. I can't ping the BCM box or get to the web address. Elements manager cannot detect BCM either.

Tried rebooting it couple of times but same thing, any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks,

As with all faults of this type, it tend to be the hard disk that has failed. The only other item could be the capacitors on the Motherboard. My guess it's the hard disk.

All the best

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

Thanks Firebird, thanks for quick response.

Im not very familiar with how to change the hard drive. I do have a BCM backup from last friday, If you dont mind can you please tell me how can I change the hard drive and bring the BCm backup ?

Thanks

Can you get into Telset admin? I've had mine lose their gateway and have this problem. Which probably means your drive is failing but at least you can get in and pull a new back up if anything has changed in the last two weeks.

nothing has changed in two weeks in fact nothing has changed in well over a year. I'm not sure who to telnet into the system.

Purchase a replacement HD that has the exact same version and release as you have (or multi drive that has then all).
Open BCM and replace the HD.
Once booted up do a "restore" using your backup file.

You may want to get a tech in for this.

Ok, where can i get the replacement HD, can i image this myself ? where can i download the image files from.

Once i install the new hard-drive will it have new passwords to log into Elements manager ? default passwords ?

Thanks,

You can purchase it online or from a vendor.
You can image it yourself but you need to be a vendor to download the files.
It will be a default system and may require a vendor to re-install and key codes.
If this is your live system that is down your really need to be calling a vendor.

Cant find any vendors where I live, if I take the hard drive out and plug it into an external case and if it still works and get refinished by windows can I take an image of that and image a new hard drive and plug it back into the BBM box.

Is that worth a try.

I don't know what version of BBM software it was running, anyway of finding out from the files inside the backup.

Any other place I can download back images apart from the avaya site ?

Thanks

took the drive out, it has a linux partition on it and on the back of the BCM box it has sticker of 4.0 on it. Is there a way to find out the release number from the backup files ?

Thanks in advance ?

Bak_BCM40_20130726T020549 this is the name of the file. I'm in Winnipeg.
