BCM 400 4.0. It did this when it was at 3.7 also :/

My target line(s) are set to ring to the ext with 2 or more appearances. No control set. Prime set is the ext it is supposed to ring to. When I check the box DND on Busy then make my test calls, the second call to the phone will get a busy and the Ext never sees the call coming. I know the way DND works on the Norstars and BCM is it just really mutes the ring and you still have a visual of the call coming in. Now, if the Prime set is set to be the operator ext then it will give a visual to the ext originally being called but, it rings to the operator (prime set). I only want it to be muted at the ext being called.

And another thing, even without it being checked and the second call comes in, the ring is not at a lower volume but at whatever they set the volume to be. (same as the 1st calls vloume)

I have 2 BCM 400s 4.0 One with all digital exts and one with all IP exts and they both do the same thing and did from 3.7

Are they set to appear&ring or ring only? I usually set them to ring only(default appearance-one i think) and as i recall if dnd on busy is set then the second call is muted.
i'll double-check on my next call on 4.0.

set the lines to appear and ring for a visual indicator on the phone.
In capabilites for this extn untick the DND tab.
This will allow multiple calls to be received at this extn.( same as norstar) wil slightly lower volume for the second call.
go to line access and the change the target line from prime to busytone.

also check your dnd to prime setting is off.usually set to 4 rings.
this stops the line priming to the prime extn.

or you can go to the lines and remove the prime extn so as the system cant send the call to the prime extn.

try these and see what works for you

gberger, you are right. It is currently set to ring only with 2 appearances.

snowman, thanks for the feedback but maybe you didnt understand me. The lines are set to ring only, 2 appearances. They have 2 ICM keys so this allows for visual on each ICM key. The DND is not ticked. Only when I do tick the DND on Busy the caller gets a Busy. The caller should still hear it ring and the ext called should see it ring but be muted on that phone.

I do not want the busy tone. I want it to still "ring" but muted, which is why the setting for DND on Busy. In target lines is where you set the "If Busy" goto busy tone or prime set. But when calling from ext to ext this doesn't get looked at.

Also the second call is not coming in at a lower volume. It could be related :/
Does anybody know of any patches that may fix this?

I have never seen the DND on busy work like we think it should work the only way is the use the DND feature that will stop the ring and see the indicator blink but thats a pain to push it every time your on a call. It will just have to ring muted. This says that internal calls will get a busy but external will not ring.

DND on Busy: When you are busy on a call and a second call comes in, your telephone alerts
you to the second call with a light ring. If you find this second call and ring is disruptive, you
can prevent a second call by assigning Do Not Disturb (DND) on Busy to your extension.
If you use DND, the line indicator for an external incoming call flashes, but your telephone
does not ring. Internal and private network callers hear a busy tone instead of ringing when
you are on the telephone. External callers are transferred to the prime set used in your system
or to your voice mail. Forward on Busy takes priority over DND on Busy.

cook, thanks! I do know how it "should" work. Our rings on both BCM 400s do not light ring with the second call. It is still at the normal volume. This is why i tried to use the DND on Busy feature, which I have used many times for customers in the past. I used to be a field tech on Norstars and BCMs. Norstars since 1997 and BCMs since they released it (Enterprise Edge 1.0)When DND on Busy is "on" and a second call comes in, it lights up on the phone for a brief second then gives the caller a busy tone and it goes away from my phone. This is on network and DID calls. On Internal calls it goes straight to busy and on the callres display it says user busy. Using DND works but everybody isn't going to press DND when they get on the phone and remember to turn it off when they hang up.

Set your target line to be answered by AA 12 rings,

To allow the external incoming call to follow the CFNA programming on the set you need to assign the line/target line to be answered by the BCM's Auto Attendant (AA). As long as the rings to answer are set higher than the CFNA rings on the set, the incoming call will flash the indicator on the set and then follow the CFNA setting.

You won't find it in the DOCs.

Coneil, thanks.

Tried that and it rings to the caller and appears on the phone, very briefly, then goes to voicemail :/
CFNA is at 4 rings
DRT is at 10 rings and set DRT to prime and prime set to the vm dn
this doesn't matter but...
trans call back is at 5 rings

It may ring once before it goes to vmail, while the phone is busy of course. It is like it will follow the DND on Busy feature then the "if busy to prime and prime set" setting takes over.

Try Prime set the extension for the target line instead of voicemail DN.

When prime set is the voicemail dn, if a call primes to the voicemail, then the system will match DNIS digits to a mailbox. IF DNIS digits match the extension then you are good for going to the right mailbox. IF DNIS digits don't match then it will default to the general mailbox.

This I already tried and it goes to a busy after about 1 or 2 seconds of ringing at the ext#.
Weird thing is....It did this when it was at 3.6 and 3.7 and also now at 4.0 :(
